Survey has concluded
Its games on for Burscough sports as West Lancashire Borough Council has approved £3.18m in funding to significantly upgrade Burscough Sports’ facilities.
Work has now begun, with our development partner Alliance Leisure and the improvements will lead to modern leisure, wellbeing, and fitness facilities to meet the needs of Burscough and surrounding areas.
We are inviting residents of the borough to have their say on the future operation of the site.
Your views are important to us, so please have your say before the survey closes on 28th July 2024.

Burscough Racquet & Fitness Centre opened, providing a well used leisure facility for the town
2015
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
A new Leisure Strategy is developed by West Lancashire Borough Council. which commissioned a review of it's leisure facilities
2018
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
The Council approved an ambitious plan to develop it's leisure facilities, including investment into Burscough Racquet & Fitness Centre, to make the facility sustainable for the future
2020
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
In March 2020, plans were put on hold due to resources being focused on the Council's response to the Covid-19 pandemic
2021
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
In December 2021, the Council approves and relaunches the Leisure Facilities Strategy
2022 - January to February
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
Consultation underway, inviting residents to tell us what improvements and investment they would like to see made at the centre
2022 Review
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
Feedback from the consultation will be reviewed and used to develop investment plans to deliver improvements to Burscough Racquet & Fitness Centre
2023
Burscough Sports Development Project has finished this stage
Following a review of the feedback, a development partner is viewing all opportunities.
Detailed plans for the Leisure Transformation project will be shared in an additional consultation scheduled to commence Spring 2023.
2024

Work has now begun, and the improvements will lead to modern leisure, wellbeing, and fitness facilities to meet the needs of Burscough and surrounding areas, we are now able to hear your views on the future operation of the site.
