Consultation has concluded

West Lancashire Borough Council is undertaking a review of all Polling Districts and Polling Places and is inviting comments from the public on its proposals.

Following completion of the Electoral Review in March 2022 by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, which will reduce the number of, and change Ward Boundaries (more information on that review can be found here external link), a Polling Review is required to ensure that Polling Districts and Places match these new boundaries and are convenient for voters.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Polling Districts and Polling Places review, your feedback is now being analysed and will form part of the proposals.

Interactive Map - Polling Review 2022

Note: before providing your comments via the interactive map, you must have completed step 1 and provided consent for us to collate and process your feedback.

West Lancashire Borough Council is undertaking a review of all Polling Districts and Polling Places and is inviting comments from the public on its proposals. Following completion of the Electoral Review in March 2022 by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, which will reduce the number of, and change Ward Boundaries (more information on that review can be found here), a Polling Review is required to ensure that Polling Districts and Places match these new boundaries and are convenient for voters.

The proposals were published on Monday 25 July and the public consultation is open until Monday 19 September. Proposals and Submissions can be viewed and made here via the interactive map. To make a submission please follow the instructions below:

  1. Locate the relevant location on the map. This can be done either by zooming in and dragging the screen, or by searching for a postcode or location using the magnifying glass tool in the top right-hand corner of the map. When you have found the location, you wish to view/comment on, you can click on the map, and it will display the electoral information for that Polling District. The light blue pins on the map represent the proposed Polling Places. If you click on a pin, it will display the Polling Place information and more details on the proposals for that area. Click back or click home if you want to go back.
  2. To make a submission suggesting an alternative Polling Place - Click the + icon on the left-hand side of the screen to reveal a green pin (Potential Polling Place) which you need to drag and drop onto the relevant location within the map.  If you are using a mobile device, you will then need to click 'Set this location' in the top right-hand corner. A box will pop up which allows you to provide further details to support your suggestion. Click Submit to ensure that your comment is made.
  3. To make a submission commenting on the polling district or the general area - Click the + icon on the left-hand side of the screen to reveal a pink pin (Polling District Comment) which you need to drag and drop anywhere within the Polling District.  If you are using a mobile device, you will then need to click 'Set this location' in the top right-hand corner.  A box will pop up which allows you to provide further details. Click Submit to ensure that your comment is made.
  4. Please also complete the accompanying consent form and full address, so that we can provide feedback on your comments. 

All information you provide via this map will be visible to other users and therefore we encourage you not to reveal any personal information about yourself or others. Please note that all comments and submissions made to the consultation will be published as part of the conclusion review, this does not include your address (your address is needed as you can only participate if you live in West Lancashire).

To use this map, you need to sign in or register to Your Voice... West Lancashire. Please note that your screen name will be publicly visible on the map. If you have previously registered to Your Voice West Lancashire and wish to change your screen name you can do so by logging in and selecting the 'profile' option in the top right of your screen. 

Definitions

  • Polling District - A geographical area representing part of a Ward
  • Polling Place - An area or building within the Polling District or neighbouring Polling District where a Polling Station is located at an election
