Suggest a Location for a New Litter Bin
West Lancashire Borough Council is set to install 50 new public litter bins across the Borough to help keep communities cleaner, greener and more welcoming.
The bins will be placed in key locations including parks, public spaces and busy pedestrian routes, helping to reduce litter and encourage responsible waste disposal.
We would like residents, businesses and community groups to tell us where they think new litter bins are needed most.
When suggesting a location, please consider places where a bin would be well used, such as areas with high footfall, popular walking routes, local centres, recreation areas and other frequently used public spaces.
All suggested locations will be assessed before a final decision is made.
Consideration will be given to:
Safe access for collection crews
The safety of road users and pedestrians
Levels of demand and usage
Existing litter bin provision nearby
Land ownership and any permissions required
Practicality for ongoing emptying and maintenance
Environmental and highway considerations
Some locations may not be suitable, for example those on high-speed rural roads, areas with limited safe access, or places where bins cannot be emptied safely and efficiently.
Please note: Submitting a location does not guarantee that a litter bin will be installed there. All suggestions will be reviewed before final locations are selected.
Submissions close on Friday 28 August 2026, so please submit your suggestions before this date.
